Aggieville Searches for New Executive Director

As members of the Aggieville Business Association (ABA) consider a new look for Aggieville’s streets and parking options, changes are coming to the association’s leadership team.

September 25th – Josh Brewer

Following Olsson Associate’s presentation of the Aggieville Vision to Reality design plan to association members on Thursday September 20th, the ABA’s executive committee terminated Linda Mays, its executive director of two years, for reasons that were not disclosed.

Until the position is filled, Tubby’s Sports Bar co-owners, Ryan Bramhall, president of the ABA executive board, and Krista Bramhall, secretary of the ABA executive board, will take on the executive director’s responsibilities.

The changes come as the Aggieville Vision to Reality project implements a development plan for improving the pedestrian-oriented shopping, dining, and mixed-entertainment district. Dennis Cook, ABA executive board member and sales manager at Flint Hills Beverage, says that the next two years will be “transformational” for Aggieville and that the association will need leadership to communicate developments to members, the city and the community at large.

After reorienting the executive director position to reflect the district’s evolving needs, the association plans to begin a search in 30 to 45 days. This leadership change presents an opportunity for the association to engage newer businesses in Aggieville, such as Public Hall, Orange Sky Yoga, and the Alms Group, and to advocate for continued economic development in the district. Rod Harms, the association’s executive director from 2014 to 2015, says that this is “a critical time for Aggieville” and “as indicated by the attendance at last Thursday’s presentation by Olsson Associates, the association members are up to the task.”
