Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce names Dr. Cheryl Grice as C. Clyde Jones Volunteer of the Year

(Manhattan, Kansas – Press Release)

Dr. Cheryl Grice was selected 2018 C. Clyde Jones Volunteer of the Year during Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce’s Feb. 15 Annual Meeting at Manhattan Conference Center.

Director of Strategic Relations at Kansas State University, Grice focuses upon talent acquisition. She has been a 25-year devotee on the Kansas State campus and started as Senior Strategic Planner. Her efforts through volunteer activities and work truly make a difference in the community where she endeavors tirelessly as contributor and through leadership positions.

These important causes include Friends of McCain and Little Apple Pilot Club. A founding member and current board member of Fairy Godmothers Fund, which is connected to the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, Grice sits on the boards for Boys and Girls Club Manhattan, Manhattan Area Chamber and the community foundation.

Grice has show tremendous enthusiasm toward Talent Attraction and Retention, one of the three basic tenets of Region Reimagined for Geary, Pottawatomie and Riley counties. She has volunteered time on the Manhattan Chamber’s workforce advisory board and served as chair on the Chamber Board’s CEO search committee to ultimately offer Jason Smith.

The 2018 recipient – each annual meeting reflects on the previous year and distinction toward member devotion – has also led multiple initiatives to connect our troops stationed at Fort Riley Army post with the regional business community.

The Chamber’s volunteer of the year award honor C. Clyde Jones, a 60-year Manhattan resident who served as first dean of Kansas State University’s College of Business. Jones has a long-running record of community service activity in Manhattan to include Shepherd’s Crossing.

Grice is the 30th recipient of the C. Clyde Jones Volunteer of the Year award. Dean Thibault was the 2017 calendar year awardee.
