Genesis Health Club Hilltop Location Construction Underway

Genesis Health Club has one facility currently operating on Anderson Avenue and was recently affected by the Labor Day flood. Parallel to their renovations after the flood, the health club has begun construction on the hilltop of Fort Riley Boulevard and Allison Avenue.

According to a press release on the Club’s website, the 70,000 square foot, multi-million-dollar, luxury facility will feature all the amenities at the current club, plus a six-lane indoor pool, three-lane running track, three exercise studios, full basketball court, childcare, cardio, weights, three indoor tennis courts with a grand slam viewing lounge and bar, personal training, smoothie bar, premium locker rooms with built-in locks, granite countertops and full towel service. In addition, an upscale spa will be included, featuring massage, facials, skin care, cold water bath, therapy pools, hot tubs, steam room and dry sauna.

The new facility will be available for use at no additional charge to all current Genesis Health Clubs members.

“From day one, we have been committed to recovering and making the facility even better for our members than if the flooding had never happened. Between the upgraded equipment, new toys and carpeting and special classes, we will emerge with a better product than before and with our same relentless focus on bringing results for life to our members,” a Genesis Health Club online press release said.

Owner Rodney Stevens II said, “you’ll see steel in the air before the end of the year as the building starts to take shape. It’s a little early to give a grand opening date, but we’re currently estimating the last half of 2019. Weather can always affect the timetable, but that should give you a rough idea.”

“Manhattan is in for something special,” said Rodney Steven II, Owner/President of Genesis Health Clubs, “We are so excited to bring this facility to our members and the community. Manhattan has not seen the true Genesis experience offered in our deluxe, largest clubs. That is all about to change. Manhattan is already a Genesis city, and this will take that to the next level.”

This is the health club’s 45th location. Steven continued, “this has been long-awaited and it has taken longer than expected, for which we sincerely apologize. We’ve doubled in size since this project was announced, adding over 20 clubs since then, up to 46 clubs, and we have had at least four sites under active construction at all times. This has been a difficult site to develop, but Anything worthwhile is hard to get. We cannot emphasize enough how gracious or members have been. I can’t wait for them to see the new club; it will be more than worth the wait.”

“The new Genesis will be a landmark in the city; I guarantee no one will miss it. Manhattan has never seen anything like this; it has everything. It will be a beautiful health club, but most of all, we will bring with it a new standard of service and luxury to the community and to our members.”

Genesis Health Club purchased the former Max Fitness in 2015 from local entrepreneur Dave Dreiling.

Club officials said that it will bring 80 full-time equivalent jobs, more than doubling the current Club on Andersons employee level.
