530 McCall Road was the previous home of Orscheln Farm and Home Supply, but as the McCall Road Development continues to expand East with new businesses and developments, this site became a prime candidate for an update.
“Half of the space is going to Howl-A-Dayz Inn & Daycare, which is currently operating in a building behind the site, and will be moving over,” Dave Dreiling said.
Dreiling purchased the building at 530 McCall Road and will lease the rest of the building as suites.
“There’s no upscale facility like that in Manhattan. Dog owners who love their dog want the want the very best for them. This facility will have 8,000 square feet with a very large outdoor astro turf play area, bedrooms, and suites including their own tv and fan,” said Dreiling.
Howl-A-Dayz Inn & Daycare offers climate controlled, cage-free, indoor boarding, daycare, grooming, training and has been operating in Manhattan by Kelly Neel for 10 years.
Services also include light outdoor walking, overnight stays, and lots of playing.
Neel and Dreiling sparked a conversation about the industry earlier this spring and the conversation grew into Dreiling becoming a part owner of Howl-A-Dayz Inn & Daycare in June.
Kelly Neel started Howl-A-Dayz Inn & Daycare in 2006 after working in the pet care industry for several years as a veterinary assistant and manager of a doggy daycare in Colorado Springs.
Seeing a need for better boarding options and socialization for dogs in the Manhattan community, Neel dedicated herself to running the area’s top facility in the area.
The new renovation is expected to be complete between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Howl-A-Dayz Inn hopes to be moved in during the same period.
“I love going in and studying a new industry and all the little nuisances of each industry and found that I love this industry,” Dave said.
Dreiling said, “when you look at the development along the McCall Road corridor.. K-State Credit Union built a beautiful building, GTM got an upgrade to the front, K-State Super Store is another beautiful building, this building was a major eye sore.”
“When this building is finished, it will be very nice and look like the others along McCall. We really needed to do that and are excited about that,” Dave Dreiling said.
