Wamego, Kan, 03-21-2019 – In light of the recent trends in technology, the need for bandwidth in the educational environment has certainly become more important than ever before. WTC of Wamego has the capability to meet these needs and began offering Manhattan Area Technical College (MATC) Gigabit Internet speeds this March. Delivered via WTC’s advanced fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) technology, Gigabit service gives the college access to broadband connections that allow them to work at unprecedented speeds.
“MATC is delighted to be partnering with WTC. The increase in bandwidth, while reducing our overall telecommunications costs, allows the College to provide students, faculty, and staff robust connections for teaching, learning and many other College services,” stated Josh Gfeller, Chief Information Security Officer for the College. “The combination of improved data connections, enhanced reliability for our online learning environment, and high-end customer support services makes this partnership ideal for our telecommunications needs.”
“We are very pleased that WTC was able to bring Gigabit service to our campus,” added Jim Genandt, President of MATC. “WTC designed a win-win opportunity for us, and these are the collaborative efforts that boost the College’s performance of our mission to provide a quality workforce for our region.”
FTTP offers many benefits over traditional technologies. One of these benefits is the large bandwidth capacity needed to handle future projected demand. As more devices become reliant on connectivity and higher bandwidth, fiber provides a virtually unlimited supply.
“We continue to launch higher speed broadband services so businesses can grow, schools can leverage educational opportunities, telemedicine can be offered in our rural settings, and communities can enhance their economic development” stated Jeff Wick, General Manager of WTC. “For years we have focused on deploying fiber in our local communities, so now through this investment, we can offer the college all the bandwidth they need to support new initiatives and increasing demand,” Wick added.
