Sparrow Specialty Coffee opened in Manhattan six years ago to provide a space for people from all walks of life to enjoy coffee and conversation. At the end of 2017, Sparrow relocated to a larger space off of Anderson Avenue to continue its growth. Once COVID-19 hit in March, Sparrow announced they were closing among the newest CDC recommendations.
After several months of being closed, David and Melissa Romero along with Scott and Diane Clark purchased Sparrow Specialty Coffee from Lyle and Kay Markey and Steve and Shari Myers.

“We loved the vision they had to create a coffee shop where people from all walks of life could come and enjoy a great cup of coffee and conversation. There was no doubt that when the opportunity came to carry on that vision and mission we jumped at that opportunity,” David Romero said.
The new ownership group decided to rebrand and change the name to Brothers Coffee Co. “We chose to change the name to Brothers Coffee Co. to best represent who we are going to be going forward. We also felt it was a good time to rebrand as the shop had been closed since March.”

There won’t be any major changes in the shop immediately. Romero said, “we are going to serve the same great coffee and pastries that made Sparrow a success. I am sure, like any business that takes on new ownership, there will be some differences, but our hope is that we will just take it all to a new level of success.”
Brothers Coffee Co will have their grand opening on Monday, August 10th, at 6:30am.
Sparrow was a non profit and as such did not have owners.
